Welcome to Elastic Path 6.1.0
Getting Started
- Download the Elastic Path 6.1.0 files. You should have received an email containing information on where to find the binary and source code versions.
- Deploy the Elastic Path applications.

If you plan to try out the tutorials, you will need to deploy the Snap It Up demo store. Make sure you run all SQL scripts and import jobs relating to Snap It Up. - If you're installing the web application binaries, See the Deployment Guide.
- If you're building the web applications from the source code, see the Developer Guide.
- Install the Commerce Manager Client by unzipping CommerceManager-win32.win32.x86.zip.
- Read the Commerce Manager User Manual to become familiar with the Commerce Manager Client application.
- Check the Tutorials area. We will be adding more tutorials in the next couple weeks to help users get started with setting up catalogs, stores, warehouses, promotions, etc.
What's New in Elastic Path 6.1
- Improved multiple store management
6.1 supports multiple storefronts running in a single storefront web application. Previously, multiple storefronts required hosting multiple storefront war files. One storefront web app means reduced deployment complexity and better scalability for multi-store deployments. This change is closely linked to the new visual themes feature.
- New settings framework
The majority of Elastic Path's core application settings are now stored in the database and managed through the Commerce Manager. A set of services was also created to provide developers with a consistent interface to the settings framework. This greatly simplifies settings management for business users, system administrators, and developers. For more information, see the appropriate sections of the Deployment Guide, Commerce Manager User Guide, and Developer Guide.
- Advanced search
The search capabilities in the Commerce Manager have been greatly expanded by the addition of the advanced search feature. Users can search for products by providing sophisticated criteria. Criteria can be saved and run at later time, and can even be shared with other Commerce Manager users. For more information, see the Commerce Manager User Guide.
- Visual theme support
Visual themes let you customize the look and feel of your stores. All the HTML templates, CSS files, Javascript files, images and other resource have been moved out of the storefront web application archive and into the file system. This provides greater flexibility in how and where UI resources are stored; revision control systems, CMS integration, and WebDAV folders are all possibilities now. You can create mutliple themes and assign them to different stores. You can also create smaller customizations of existing themes by overriding individual theme elements for specific stores. For more information, see the Themes section of the Deployment Guide.
- Improved import-export engine
The import-export tool has been enhanced to support Elastic Path Query Language (EPQL) queries. EPQL is a custom query language (also used by the advanced search feature) that lets you specify finer-grained export criteria. For more information, see the Import-Export Tool Guide.
- Improved store editor
The wizard-like store interface has been refactored to a more intuitive, less restrictive tab-based interface.
For more information, see the section Creating a Store in the Commerce Manager User Guide.
- Shopping cart web service improvements
Two new methods have been added to the shopping cart web service. For more information, see the section on using Elastic Path web services in the Developer Guide.
- Search index rebuild management
Search indexes rebuild jobs can now be managed from the Commerce Manager. For more information, see the section titled 5 - Requesting Search Index Rebuilds from the Commerce Manager in the Deployment Guide.
- Maven dependency management
The management of build and runtime dependencies has been greatly simplified through the use of the Maven build dependency framework. For more information, see the section titled Adding Libraries in the Developer Guide.
