This tutorial will show you how to set up a Cross-Sell and Up-Sell merchandising association in Elastic Path Commerce 6.1.
What you will learn
- About different types of merchandising associations supported in Elastic Path Commerce.
- How to set up a cross-sell association.
- How to set up an up-sell association.
Background
Merchandising associations are very effective at increasing the average order size for e-commerce sites. They allow store administrators to promote related products on the same page that the customer is currently viewing. The goal is to increase the purchase value of the customer's shopping cart, and/or to encourage the purchase of higher-profit items.
Elastic Path Commerce 6.1 supports five types of Merchandising Associations:
- Cross Sells - Promote alternative purchasing options that are similar to the product the customer is currently viewing.
- Up Sells - Promote more expensive versions of the currently viewed product. Can be the same or other brands.
- Warranties - Promote 'add-on' products (e.g., extended service plans.)
- Accessories - Promote complementary goods to the currently viewed product.
- Replacements - Recommend substitute goods when the product a customer is looking at has been discontinued or is out of stock.
You set up each of these using similar forms in Commerce Manager. We'll focus on the Cross-sell and Up-Sell types in this tutorial, but setting up one of the other types is very similar. These merchandising associations are set up under each product's form in the Commerce Manager.
